Speaking with Elliot Kligman, who today serves up smoked meat from his grandfather’s recipe you can’t help but note the pride and enthusiasm this Montreal restaurateur brings to newly relocated Dunn’s on Metcalf Street. The restaurant overlooks Dominion Square and the casual mixed with the sophisticated make for a relaxed but elegant atmosphere.

The restaurant features many delectable dishes. Start with a soup such as French onion or chicken noodle or skip straight to the starters (chicken wings, zucchini sticks, Nachos). Enjoy side orders of fries, poutine, or potato latkas to name a few.

I chose the succulent smoked meat on rye and my companion chose the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Portions were generous and every mouthful delicious. The service is efficient, unobtrusive and friendly. One would want to go back several times to sample the array of dishes offered including deli sandwiches such as chopped liver or bagel and lox. Heartier appetites will enjoy charcoal broiled steaks, shrimps, burgers or chicken breasts. Dunn’s also offers an excellent selection of salads and pastas to round out the menu.
